Key Responsibilities – Internal Medicine & Specialty Care
Advanced Diagnostics & Procedures
- Assist with and support advanced diagnostic procedures, including:
- Ultrasound-guided sampling
- Endoscopy, cystoscopy, bronchoscopy
- Bone marrow aspirates
- Collect, process, and manage laboratory samples (blood, urine, CSF, etc.)
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot specialized diagnostic and medical equipment
Patient Monitoring & Critical Care
- Provide advanced monitoring for hospitalized and critical care patients
- Support anesthesia induction, maintenance, and recovery
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and therapeutic treatments with precision
Case Management & Client Communication
- Partner with veterinarians to support client education and case updates
- Ensure continuity of care and detailed medical record documentation
- Provide compassionate, empathetic support to patients and their families
Team Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with Internal Medicine, ER, and ICU teams
- Participate in case discussions and specialty rounds
- Contribute to a culture of shared learning and clinical excellence
Qualifications & Experience
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) in Tennessee or eligible for licensure
- 2–3+ years of experience in Internal Medicine, Emergency, or Specialty practice
- Strong technical proficiency in:
- Anesthesia and patient monitoring
- Diagnostic procedures and sample handling
- Critical patient care
- Excellent communication skills and a team-focused mindset
Preferred
- VTS (Internal Medicine or Emergency & Critical Care) or actively pursuing
- Experience in specialty diagnostics and advanced case management
- Demonstrated interest in continued professional growth and leadership
Skills & Knowledge
- Advanced understanding of anesthesia protocols, monitoring equipment, and emergency response
- Experience with a wide range of anesthesia agents and monitoring devices
- Familiarity with advanced surgical and procedural support (soft tissue, orthopedic exposure preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to function calmly in high-acuity situations
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Capable of meeting the physical demands of specialty procedures and emergency situations
