Position Summary
The Vice President of Equity Capital Markets will play a senior role in capital raising, investor relationship management, and market development for Madison’s investment vehicles. Based in NYC, this role will have primary responsibility for coverage of institutional and private investors in the Midwest region, including developing new investor relationships, deepening existing partnerships, and driving capital formation strategies across Madison’s global product suite.
This individual will collaborate closely with senior leadership, product specialists, and investment teams to position Madison’s strategies, deliver market insights, support product development, and ensure best-in-class client engagement. The VP will act as a strategic representative of the firm across external channels and industry events.
Key Responsibilities
Investor Coverage & Business Development
- Lead capital-raising efforts across the Midwest region; originate and manage relationships with institutional investors, consultants, family offices, wealth platforms, and other qualified allocators.
- Drive new business development through targeted outreach, proactive prospecting, and ongoing regional market intelligence.
- Represent Madison’s products and investment strategies in meetings, conferences, and industry events, articulating differentiation and performance drivers.
Product Positioning & Sales Strategy
- Partner with ECM leadership to refine the firm’s go-to-market strategy, messaging, and positioning across open- and closed-end fund offerings.
- Ensure the investment story for each product is communicated consistently across all investor touchpoints and platforms.
- Provide senior-level feedback on investor needs, competitive dynamics, pricing, and product strategy.
Collaboration & Internal Leadership
- Work closely with investment management teams to provide investors with updates, portfolio insights, and detailed analyses.
- Coordinate with subject matter experts across the firm to deliver seamless coverage experience and tailored client solutions.
- Mentor junior ECM team members and contribute to broader team development and process enhancement.
Marketing, Materials & Analytics
- Assist in the development and refinement of marketing materials, including pitch decks, DDQs, tear sheets, Q&A documents, and product profiles.
- Maintain accurate pipeline reports, forecasting, and activity tracking within Salesforce.
- Support ongoing product management initiatives, including competitive analysis and review of strategy characteristics related to market standards.
Cross-Functional Engagement
- Respond to inquiries from senior management and internal business partners, providing clear and timely updates on fundraising progress and investor feedback.
- Coordinate internally to ensure alignment on investor communications, performance commentary, and messaging for target markets.
Qualifications
- 10–15 years of relevant capital-raising or institutional sales experience, ideally within private equity, real estate private equity, or related alternative investments.
- Demonstrated success managing a territory and raising capital from institutional investors (Midwest experience strongly preferred).
- Existing network of consultant, institutional, and private wealth relationships.
- Deep knowledge of real estate private equity, REIT markets, and broader private alternatives landscape.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; strong presentation capabilities with the ability to engage senior-level investors.
- Highly analytical with strong organizational and project-management abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree in finance, real estate, or economics preferred.
- Ability to work independently while fostering strong internal collaboration.
- Willingness to travel domestically (with focus on Midwest) and internationally as required.
