Water Infrastructure Practice Leader

<p>Civil Science is seeking a <strong>Water Infrastructure Practice Leader</strong> to establish and lead our firmwide water infrastructure practice. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a seasoned water professional who is passionate about building teams, growing client relationships, and delivering critical water infrastructure projects that serve communities throughout the region.</p> <p>As the Water Infrastructure Practice Leader, you will provide technical leadership, support project delivery, drive business development, and unify water expertise across multiple offices and disciplines. You will help shape the strategic direction of our water services while mentoring the next generation of engineering leaders.</p> <p>While the primary focus of this role is water infrastructure, candidates with experience in wastewater systems, stormwater infrastructure, drainage, and integrated utility planning are highly desired. Civil Science anticipates continued growth in water, sewer, and drainage services, and this leader will play a key role in shaping that expansion.</p> <p><strong>What You'll Do</strong></p> <p><strong>Practice Leadership &amp; Growth</strong></p> <ul> <li>Lead the development and expansion of Civil Science's water infrastructure practice.</li> <li>Create and execute growth strategies for water transmission, distribution, storage, source development, treatment, and utility infrastructure services.</li> <li>Build and strengthen relationships with municipal agencies, utility districts, irrigation entities, and other public-sector clients.</li> <li>Identify and pursue new business opportunities, proposals, and strategic partnerships.</li> <li>Support revenue growth and establish a sustainable project backlog.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Technical Leadership</strong></p> <ul> <li>Serve as the firm's technical authority for water infrastructure projects.</li> <li>Provide expert guidance on water transmission pipelines, distribution systems, storage facilities, source development, hydraulic modeling, and system planning.</li> <li>Deliver innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.</li> <li>Ensure quality, risk management, and technical excellence across all projects.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Project Delivery &amp; Client Service</strong></p> <ul> <li>Lead planning, design, and execution of complex municipal water infrastructure projects.</li> <li>Oversee project budgets, schedules, profitability, and client satisfaction.</li> <li>Support multidisciplinary project teams across offices and disciplines.</li> <li>Act as a trusted advisor to clients and stakeholders.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Team Development</strong></p> <ul> <li>Lead the firm's Water Expertise Group and foster collaboration across offices.</li> <li>Mentor engineers, project managers, and technical specialists.</li> <li>Develop training programs and knowledge-sharing initiatives.</li> <li>Help recruit, retain, and develop top water infrastructure talent.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Projects You'll Support</strong></p> <ul> <li>Water transmission pipeline systems</li> <li>Water distribution improvements</li> <li>Water storage tanks and reservoirs</li> <li>Water source development projects (wells, springs, and source facilities)</li> <li>Hydraulic modeling and master planning</li> <li>Capital improvement programs</li> <li>Utility relocations associated with transportation projects</li> <li>Emerging water treatment opportunities</li> </ul> <p><strong>What We're Looking For</strong></p> <p><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.</li> <li>Professional Engineer (PE) license.</li> <li>12+ years of progressively responsible experience in water infrastructure engineering and project management.</li> <li>Demonstrated success leading municipal water infrastructure projects from planning through construction.</li> <li>Strong client relationship management and business development experience.</li> <li>Proven ability to lead teams, mentor staff, and build technical capabilities.</li> <li>Experience with:</li> <ul> <li>Water transmission and distribution systems</li> <li>Water storage facilities</li> <li>Water source development</li> <li>Hydraulic modeling and system master planning</li> <li>Utility coordination and underground infrastructure</li> <li>Project and financial management</li> </ul> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Water treatment experience.</li> <li>Water rights experience.</li> <li>Sewer collection and treatment systems experience.</li> <li>Stormwater and drainage experience.</li> <li>Regional utility planning experience.</li> <li>Funding and grant program knowledge.</li> <li>Experience with SCADA and control systems.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Software Experience</strong></p> <ul> <li>InfoWater Pro / InfoWater</li> <li>WaterGEMS / WaterCAD</li> <li>ArcGIS Pro</li> <li>Civil 3D</li> <li>HAMMER</li> <li>InfoSewer / SewerGEMS &nbsp;/ SewerCAD</li> <li>EPANET</li> <li>InfoDrarinage / StormCAD / HEC RAS / HEC HMS</li> <li>Bluebeam and AutoCAD platforms</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p><div class="content-conclusion"><p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Why Join Civil Science?</strong></span></p> <ul> <li><strong>Ownership in Your Future:</strong> At Civil Science, we’re proud to be a 100% employee-owned firm.
