Web Development Tech Lead

We are seeking an experienced Web Development Technical Lead to oversee the technical operations of our web development team. This pivotal role involves managing the technical aspects of our sites, spearheading technical investigations, mentoring developers, and ensuring the successful delivery and maintenance of multiple websites. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with deep web development expertise including WordPress, JavaScript frameworks, a passion for performance optimization, and a commitment to fostering innovation and best practices.

YOUR CHALLENGE: 

• Lead, mentor, and motivate a diverse team of developers from various geographical locations, ensuring technical excellence and professional growth.
• Collaborate with other leads and platform engineering to direct the architecture and technical roadmap for all our sites.
• Provide daily guidance and support to team members across various geographical locations with varying skill levels.
• Oversee the maintenance, updates, and enhancements of a portfolio of websites.
• Manage the full development lifecycle under the direction of the Web Development Manager. Stage and conduct releases to production ensuring.
• Collaborate with Product Owners to translate business needs into technical requirements.
• Collaborate with the development team to refine stories & requirements into tasks that improve the platform
• Collaborate with Lead Architect to ensure the web development architecture evolves with the business directions and best practises
• Conduct in-depth technical analysis to improve the technical stack
• Conduct comprehensive code reviews to uphold high standards of quality, efficiency, and security.
• Stay updated on emerging WordPress technologies and industry trends to integrate innovative practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues promptly and effectively.

TO DO IT, YOU WILL NEED:

• Proven experience leading projects from a technical point of view
• Strong expertise in performance tuning and website optimization.
• Familiarity with SEO practices, particularly improving Core Web Vitals.
• Advocate for AI-augmented workflows and utilizing intelligent tooling to streamline day-to-day processes
• Proficiency in PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Familiar with Wordpress ecosystem
• Expertise with version control systems (git).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
• Solid understanding of caching strategies and CDNs 
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage project technicalities and collaborate with global, cross-functional teams.
• Experience with Agile or Scrum frameworks.
• Expertise in infrastructure platforms such as Cloudflare, AWS, and other hosting solutions would be considered an asset
