About the role
Purpose of the Role:
To oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the workshop by ensuring efficient job allocation, scheduling, and supervision of vehicle maintenance and repair activities. The Workshop Manager ensures that the company fleet is well-maintained, operational, and compliant with safety and performance standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for job allocation and job flow in the workshop including job scheduling and labour allocation for day to day operations.
- organize and supervise the servicing, maintenance and repair of the company’s fleet and ensure that the vehicles are always in good working conditions.
- Supervise, plan and coordinate fleet servicing and maintenance

activities, including managing and allocating resources to ensure
agreed time, cost, quality, safety and environmental targets are met. - Control the Workshop Management System by scheduling and recording the allocation of jobs, monitoring timely, cost effective repairs and workshop income and expenditure to facilitate accurate Fleet maintenance records.
- Shall ensure that the vehicles come to the workshop at the designated kilometres for servicing.
- Adhere to current policies and procedures and authorise purchase cards to ensure the procurement of spare parts and other services are carried out.
- Shall investigate and diagnose the causes of vehicle breakdown and accidents and apportion blames accordingly by ensuring that defaulters take financial responsibility of the cost of repairs.
- ensure workshop budget projections are achieved.
- Should organize training for the workshop team and helpers to improve the quality of service.
- Ensure that all the tools and equipment in the workshop are functional and are being prudently used.
- Shall organize training in conjunction with the training unit for all the drivers especially on how to handle minor break downs.
- Co-ordinate resources, (operational and human) schedules and activities to effectively manage jobs
Knowledge & Experience
- A minimum diploma/ certificate as a Motor Mechanic
- Should have 5 + years of experience of Extensive experience in scheduling repair, maintenance and servicing of trucks and small equipment.
- Possess a current truck driver licence and willingness to work outside of regular working hours and travel on occasion. The successful applicant may be required to attend after hour’s emergency callouts.
- Should be Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Fluent in Swahili and English
